GOLD LEAF LODGE O.Y.B. STARTS WITH 29 MEMBERS
The Timmins Lodge of the Orange Young Britons recently organized here was duly instituted last Friday evening in the Oddfellows Hall with Mr. Percy Craig as the first Master. The District Lecturer, Sergt. Major Simpson of Haileybury was the only District officer able to be present for the occasion. Twenty nine candidates presented themselve for initiation, but on Friday evening only twelve were put through this step in the work, the other seventeen being duly initiated at a supplimentary session in the I.O.O.F. hall on Monday evening of this week. On Friday evening Bros. A. Craig, L. Duesharm, W. McHugh and W. E. Johnston of Haileybury of Timmins and Toronto Orange Lodges were elected honorary members of Gold Leaf O.Y.B.. After the work of the Lodge a pleasant line of refreshments was enjoyed at midnight. At the next meeting the next meeting the second degree will be put on there being 29 candidates of this degree and a number of visiting brethern from Haileybury are expected for the occasion. The election of officers for Gold Leaf Lodge will take place in the course of the week or so. It is the intention of the new lodge to organize a brass band here in the near future.
