Queensborough L.O.L. No. 437
Queensborough, Ontario, Canada
About the Lodge
Built in 1862, Loyal Orange Lodge No. 437's former Orange Hall is one of the oldest buildings in Queensborough, Ontario.
It served not only as the Hall of the local Orange Lodge until the 1980's but also as the first place of worship in the village. Anglicans, Methodists and Presbyterians all gathered here for Sunday services and Sunday School before their own churches were built, starting with St. Peter’s Anglican Church in 1871. In the mid-19th century, the members met "the first Tuesday before each full moon." With its restorations completed in 2019, it is the site of community dances once again. |
